Overcoming Personal Adversity

In early 2014 Nyki, my wife, was complaining that I was losing my hearing, actually she thought I was choosing times to ignore her. I was in return accusing her of whispering trying to make it seem like I was losing my hearing. Plus, the job I had at the time required yearly hearing test along with physical that I was passing with flying colors.
It wasn't until 2016 that I really did feel that something was wrong so, I went to my own doctor to get tested and low and behold, my hearing was so depleted that legally, I couldn't drive commercially without hearing aids. I was told that with the hearing aids I would be OK. That wasn't the case.
In 2017 for my annual hearing test my hearing continued to decline mainly on the left side decreased to 44% from 78% the previous year. I did all the tests, mri's, cat scans did not show any internal reasons why the continued loss of hearing.
Fast forward to today. I go in for another annual check and NOW it has decreased to 12% hearing from 44% in 2017. I was still cracking jokes with the Doctor to the point he comments, "I seem almost as crazy as my clients."
So, now I have to go back for more testing. Possibly get a different type of hearing aid. I asked should I start learning how to read lips or something, still laughing and cracking jokes. Let me tell you it's NOT funny, that's just how I deal with pain and disappointment. I LAUGH. Then figure out my next move. Deaf doesn't stop nothing. Believe that!!
Moral of the story, it comes down to you own mind set. You can choose to let the adversities and challenges in life stop you or you can use them for added motivation to achieve and accomplish what ever that you set for yourself. As long as I wake up the next day I am still a player in this G.A.M.E. of life and that is all centered around my Gratitude, Attitude, Motivation, and Education/Empowerment that embodies me.
